Discussion Document for:
First Alliance Credit Union
with MaryBeth Hyland
Brent,
Going into year four of your annual training day, First Alliance is ready to deepen your values work. You’ve built a foundation since the ‘Mars Group’ defined your Mission, Vision, and Values two years ago. Each year has added another layer — the credit union difference training, the poverty simulation, ALICE, empathy mapping with your five marketing personas, and the financial literacy work. That’s rare, and it matters that we build on what’s already worked.
This year, the big opportunity is purpose! To make your values the living engine of your organization, the thing your team of 80+ gets energized by every day, not just a platitude.
Rooted in your definition for success, I will help your team experience their own fresh start: the realization that the values on the wall are already their own.
Together, I will leave your team with clear, actionable ways to ground in their values daily — so the transformation that happens in that room continues to live on in the culture at First Alliance Credit Union. I look forward to a life-changing partnership with you.

Advanced design and day-of architecture. Participate as an expert thought leader in collaborative planning sessions to reverse-engineer the day around your measures of success. I’ll coach you in how to shape the experience so that the whole day feels intentional from the moment attendees arrive. (Up to 3 , 1-hour sessions)
Optional Pre-work for attendees. If desired, a short, thoughtful exercise delivered before the training day so your team arrives primed and ready to go deeper.
20-minute opening keynote — “Uncovering Your Authentic Self” A TED Talk–style personal story about the process of shedding values that aren’t yours and owning the ones that give you a true sense of purpose. This sets the emotional and intellectual foundation for the day.
Values facilitation (~1 hour 40 minutes). A guided series of exercises — individual reflection, table conversations, and full-group sharing — that helps each attendee identify their own core values, then recognize those values as First Alliance’s values. Leaving them with a renewed sense of purpose in their work and actionable next steps.
On-site expert presence. MaryBeth is available throughout the day to participate in other activities. Such as being a panelist, providing spot coaching, book signing, or being available for informal conversations offline with staff to build on the work together.
Post-event support. We’ll have a formal debrief after the day concludes to discuss attendee experience and recommendations for accountability and implementation so the day produces lasting change rather than a one-time high.
Permission to Be Human for every attendee. One case of physical copy of the book (24), the digital audio edition (read by MaryBeth), and the ebook for all 80+ members of your team.
