Discussion Document for:
Western Land Owner’s Alliance
with MaryBeth Hyland
Dear Rachael,
Thank you for taking the time to share more about your incredible work at Western Land Owners Alliance. It’s clear that your team is tackling some of today’s most complex and contentious issues, from water management to wildlife conservation, all while bringing together stakeholders with vastly different perspectives.
The intentionality behind creating practical, durable solutions is truly impressive, but I can also see how this level of diversity naturally leads to challenging conversations and the need for effective conflict management.
With your team spread across multiple states, and the important work you’re doing in such a divisive time, it’s crucial that they feel confident and equipped to navigate these thorny discussions.
You mentioned that building their confidence and skill set in boundary-setting, mediation, and conflict resolution is a top priority—not just for their roles now, but as a long-term investment in their professional development. My “How to Set Boundaries Through Mediation” workshop and coaching series will, no doubt be a empowering and transformative experience in building their skills during high stakes conversations, like the ever-evolving debates around the wolves.
In addition to supporting the broader team, I also recognize the unique challenges your Executive Director, Lesli Allison, faces as the founder, particularly around managing growth and adjusting to a new leadership role that requires delegation and vision alignment.
I’m energized about the opportunity to offer individualized executive coaching to help her navigate these transitions, strengthen her confidence, and build a clear strategy for maintaining the organization’s mission and values during this period of change.
Below is my proposal on how we can work together.
To make the most of our live workshop together, this pre-work is an opportunity to begin to train your team in noticing and tracking where they feel skilled in boundary setting and where they need more support. They will be given a simple prompt and structure to help them ignite more self-awareness and collect data points so they can be precise in where they focus their energy during the live workshop.
We’ll also give everyone access to my bestselling book, Permission to Be Human: The Conscious Leader’s Guide to Creating a Values-Driven Culture. It will support them in understanding the role of values in culture and how boundaries are the key to success.
(Delivered as a pre-recorded video with email Q&A. Book available to download.)
This half-day workshop is tailored to help team members master the art of healthy boundaries through mediation, allowing them to navigate contentious issues with confidence and clarity. Designed for professionals managing diverse perspectives—from wildlife conservation to agricultural interests—this workshop will provide the tools to honor individual and team needs, reclaim time and energy, and align boundaries with core values. By the end, participants will have the skills to communicate boundaries assertively and mediate conversations to foster a collaborative environment, even when challenging.
✅ Gain tools and skills to self-regulate to lead these discussions from a place of groundedness so they can ultimately regulate the energy of the room with confidence.
✅ Using mediation techniques, learn how to create a psychologically safe container for crucial conversations with the ability to set and maintain strong boundaries so they can manage the human dynamics more effectively.
✅ Understand and break through limiting beliefs holding them back from setting boundaries.
✅ Reclaim their time and energy by setting clear, effective boundaries that align with core values.
(3 hours on Zoom)
Working with each team member 1x1 will provide a deeply psychologically safe space to support them in taking the workshop training to the next level of implementation and full embodiment of setting a values-driven boundary.
During two 1:1 coaching calls, we’ll dive deep into their most challenging boundary-setting conversations. Together, we’ll craft custom solutions that work to give them the tools to reclaim their energy for the long term.
Pre-Boundary Setting Coaching Session: I'll go deeper into preparing each team member for their next big boundary-setting conversation, ensuring they're ready to move forward with confidence. We’ll get clear on their language and how to uplevel their mindset and body before, during, and after setting their boundary. (~30-45 mins)
Post-Boundary Setting Coaching Session: We’ll debrief, refine their approach, and build an action plan for future boundary-setting success. They’ll be celebrated, supported, and given the tools to keep strengthening their boundary-setting muscles by meeting them where they are. (~30-45 mins)
Having worked with dozens of executive directors moving through similar growth transitions, I will provide Lesli with a safe, supportive space to strengthen her leadership capabilities and adapt her role confidently, preserving the organization’s core mission as it continues to grow.
My Executive Alignment Coaching will help Lesli confidently lead through change management, strategic positioning, and growth transitions, while ensuring the mission, vision, and values remain central to the organization’s evolution.
Each 1-hour bi-weekly session will focus on:
✅Change management skills to help her create structures that bring clarity amid growth, reducing chaos and confusion.
✅ Role positioning and decision-making support, helping her confidently shift from direct involvement to a more strategic role while staying aligned with the organization’s vision.
✅Confidence-building in funder relationships and high-level leadership, equipping her to nurture essential external partnerships and trust her team to execute on the details
